Tatra Mountains

Tatra Mountains

Białka Tatrzańska is an ideal place for admiring the beautiful panorama of the Tatra mountains. The Tatras are the highest mountain range in Poland and in the whole Carpathians. The highest peak is Gerlach (2655 m above sea level) and the highest peak on Polish side is Rysy (2499 m). The numerous tourist trails, mountain shelters, excellent ski runs, ski lifts and cable cars (on top of Kasprowy Wierch and Łomnica and a cable railway- on top of Gubałówka and Smokowieckie Siodełko) attract a great number of tourists to the Tatras all year round. The total distance of trails on Polish side accounts for more than 270km. The trails are quite well marked and of different difficulty level. There are spacious car parks in places where the trails begin. One of them (Palenica Białczańska) is only 15 km from our Hotel in Białka Tatrzańska. It is the beginning of trails to Morskie Oko lake, Dolina Pięciu Stawów Polskich, Rysy Peak and Rusinowa Polana. The most popular Tatra valleys are: Dolina Rybiego Potoku, Dolina Pięciu Stawów, Dolina Gąsienicowa, Strążyska, Kościeliska and Chochołowska.

The Tatras are the location of the Tatra National Park with rich fauna and flora e.g. chamois, marmot, bear and 200 plants which grow only in this particular place in Poland. They are definitely worth seeing.
